The Seeds - Pushin' Too Hard

Slightly more obscure than either Michael Jackson or Farrah Fawcett, nevertheless it should be noted that the lead singer of The Seeds, Sky Saxon, also passed away on Thursday. This song is just fucking brilliant, a Top 40 hit in '67, as is Can't Seem to Make You Mine, later covered by the Ramones on Acid Eaters. Part of a wave of great garage bands captured on the terrific Nuggets series, The Seeds were punk in attitude before they were calling it such. Set volume to 11 and play often.

Shit. You got the scoop on this one, Warden...

Not only did he have both Jackson and Farrah Fawcett to contend with in grabbing his share of media attention this past couple of days, but what with the news from Iran - and my unseemly ranting - I somehow missed this sad morsel of news entirely.

Great band, and a great piece of footage to remember him by.

I just found out about it yesterday myself. But I love those '60s garage bands: The Seeds, 13th floor Elevators, ? & the Mysterians (96 Tears), Chocolate Watchband... It's some good footage, as well as some of the least committed lip syncing you'll find anywhere!

I believe this is more unsettling news that either MJ, FF, or BM. The Seeds "Pushin' to Hard", man, is godhead. Sky was one of the great dudes.
